NetEnt announces Jumanji slots for 2018
Since NetEnt’s establishment some 22 years ago, the Swedish gaming software provider of digital gaming solutions have been at the cutting edge of developing branded online slots games. NetEnt developed the very first branded online slot with ‘Scarface’ through its partnership with Universal Studios. Many other branded slots have followed including titles that have become gaming industry-wide icons such as Guns N’ Roses, Jimi Hendrix, South Park, South Park: Reel Chaos, Motorhead, Dracula, Planet of the Apes, Creature from the Black Lagoon, Dallas, The Invisible Man, Frankenstein and Aliens.
Now, NetEnt have managed to sign up another iconic brand. NetEnt has signed an agreement with Sony Pictures Consumer Products to launch an online video slots machine game based on the original Jumanji film.
The new Jumanji online slot will be released later this year. The announcement of the game’s release follows immediately on the back of the recent Christmas / New Year launch of the holiday family blockbuster film ‘Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle’ starring Dwayne ‘The Rock ‘Johnson, Karen Gillan and comedians, Jack Black and Kevin Hart. The current film has gained critical and commercial success alike around the globe, having generated more than CAD $800 million in box office receipts worldwide. However, looking at the game’s online video teaser, it will be based on the original Jumanji movie from 1995 starring late screen legend, Robin Williams.
We anticipate that the Jumanji online video slot game will be launched to NetEnt casinos worldwide (including our recommended online casinos for Canadians – William Hill, Bet 365, Betway, Karamba Casino and 888 Casino) in the second or third quarter of 2018 (post-March 2018).
NetEnt’s Branded Slots History & Heritage
NetEnt’s co-branding marketing concept (including with Universal Studios, South Park Studios and 20th Century Fox) of creating slot games based on well-known brands, such as TV shows, books, films or cartoon characters, has proven to be a popular one for NetEnt. These games tend to attract a higher traffic of players who naturally seek out brands which are well-known to them and that they associate with fun, leisure and entertainment.
- The first ever “branded” NetEnt video slot released in 2011 was online video slot Scarface. It was a game developed in cooperation with Universal Studios and has the iconic gangster movie of the same name starring Al Pacino as the game’s theme.
- The second slot based on an existing brand was the online video slot Frankenstein in 2012. Again, this was a cooperation between NetEnt and Universal Studios and draws on the famous classic horror movie from 1931, starring Boris Karloff as the monster.
- Next was online video slot Dallas, based on the ubiquitous TV soap series. It was exclusively developed for NetEnt in collaboration with Dallas license holder CBS / Warner Bros Entertainment.
- In 2013, the next branded NetEnt game released was online video slot South Park, based on the belly busting ‘adults only’ comedy animated series and developed in partnership with Comedy Central Television Network. A follow-up including a next generation of gaming technology, South Park: Reel Chaos was released in 2014.
- Others have followed over recent years including Guns N’ Roses, Jimi Hendrix, Motorhead, Dracula, Planet of the Apes, Creature from the Black Lagoon, The Invisible Man and Aliens.
Why players like Branded Online Slots
The releases of the NetEnt branded video slots are always eagerly anticipated by online players and NetEnt Online Casinos alike. Each succeeding time, players are guaranteed a special new online video slot game with elegant game play features, excellent chances to win with intricate bonus rounds and superb quality 3D graphics and / or animations, usually with original video footage and soundtracks of the branded productions that these exquisite games are based on.
What to Expect from NetEnt’s New Jumanji Online Slots
Due for a launch date in the second or third quarter of 2018, we anticipate that Jumanji will be an extremely engaging slot with outstanding graphics and bonus features that will definitely do justice to the blockbuster movie franchise, taking us on a highly adventurous on the reels and rewarding us with super mega wins that should potentially exceed 1000x bet.
Whilst they’re holding their cards close to their chest for the time being, we’re expecting that the NetEnt game development team will be saving up a great innovation to release with Jumanji, just they recently did with the Planet of the Apes online slot or the Candy Crush-inspired spiral spin mechanism of late-2017 release Finn & the Swirly Spin.
What NetEnt thinks
Henrik Fagerlund, Chief Product Officer of NetEnt, said: “Being able to secure a deal for another high-profile title showcases the moves we’re making in diversifying our roster of games.”
He added: “The original Jumanji movie, which debuted in 1995, remains a moviegoer favourite and continues to demonstrate its cross-generational appeal more than 20 years later! Also, with the recent release of the new film, the Jumanji brand is more popular than ever. We’re excited for the game launch in 2018”.
What we Expect – Jumanji Game Play
Knowing the creative genius of the Swedish studio, NetEnt will go to great lengths to produce an innovative and exciting game, featuring some unique pay mechanisms, slick design, vivid animation and generous gaming sessions with the potential for big wins.
The Return-to-Player percentage (RTP) should be in the usual NetEnt region of +/- 96%, featuring a maximum win on a single bet in excess of 1000x stake. Bet sizes will potentially range from an adjustable CAD $0.10 – CAD $100 easily adjusted by a simple click only.
NetEnt’s standardised Auto Play should give players the possibility to adjust a number of spins to be played with a range of options when the run comes to a halt. Given NetEnt’s recent switch away from Flash technology across all formats, expect Jumanji to be in the HTML5 format and available for play on Desktop, Mobile and Tablets across all iOS and Android platforms at our recommended online casinos for Canadians – William Hill, Bet 365, Betway, Karamba Casino and 888 Casino.
